ContributorsFor a small-time collector who likes writing about currency, it is a problem to afford notes to illustrate the writings. Fortunately, there are a number of firms and collectors out there who think that sharing is an important aspect of the internet. Some of these firms and individuals have thus contributed heavily to my undertakings. Lyn Knight Currency AuctionsFor the US part of my web, a major contributor is Lyn Knight Currency Auctions. They have also contributed to the general part of my web. Lyn Knight Currency Auctions is a Kansas-based auction house, specialising in US and world currency. They hold floor auctions at various sites in the US, and encourage internet bidding on these auctions. They have a internet browse- and search-enabled catalogue for these auctions, in addition to a downloadable paper catalogue. A major point about auction houses is that you have a quality description and assessment to help you evaluate the items. This is sorely missed on internet C-to-C auctions like eBay. Lyn Knight has two sites, their World Paper Money site and their US currency site. I can recommend both sites. Thomas Høiland Auktioneris a Danish firm with a strong Scandinavian presence that have contributed vastly to the non-Norwegian Scandinavian part of my web. They have an English language on-line catalogue, with first-class objects. This is a firm that can be recommended.
2006 Blackbook Price Guide to United States Paper Money (38th edition) is a necessary investment for anyone seriously collecting US notes, with updated market prices for most US notes. |
