Comics

Comics may not seem a serious kind of reading, but in my (humble?) opinion, good comics are serious reading. And, anyhow, they are fun!

Among my favourites are:

  • Dilbert - anyone having worked in a large organisation, will recognize the characters and the settings. Today's Dilbert.
  • BC - modern society in a stone age setting. Today's BC (a contradiction in terms?)
  • The Wizard of Id - The short(-tempered) King, the not always so convincing wizard, Rodney the braveless knight and Bung the intemperate --- Today's Wizard
  • Crock - sardonic and sarcastic humour in the Foreign Legion. Named after the commander, Vermin P. Crock. Today's Crock
  • Grimmy - the city cat. Today's Grimmy
  • On the fastrack - modern business and computing. Today's Fastrack
  • Beau Peep - also in the Foreign legion, a word play on the classic Beau Geste - click on the example below:

Many of these comics are difficult to find today. Try the Antiquarian bookshops (see right hand meny) or eBay (see below).
