Norwegian authors[More on modern Norwegian authors] A number of Norwegian authors have become well known outside Norway. A major author is Knut Hamsun. His collaboration with the Germans during the Second World War made him unpopular, but his novels are still widely read. He received the Nobel Literature Prize in 1920. Find books by or about Hamsun in English, here (UK) or here (US). Sigrid Undset is another Nobel Literature Prize winner (1928). She is chiefly known for her historical novels, set in Norway in the early Middle Ages, but she has also written a fair number of contemporary novels. Other classical Norwegian authors, whose work are no more widely read outside Norway, are: Alexander Kielland, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (Nobel Prize 1903) and Jonas Lie. Search for them on Amazon, eBay or Yahoo and you can occasionaly find out of print books. A classic in both Norwegian and American literature, are the novels by the Norwegian-American Ole Rølvaag.
