Norges Bank will release a commemorative 20 kroner coin to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth, on August 5th 2002.

Kristian Birkeland [200 kroner 7th issue]

Birkeland was a physicist, one of the founders of the physics of the ionosphere. He was also one of the men behind the process of producing fertilizer from free nitrogen gas.
